Everyone at the Gut Cancer Foundation is deeply saddened to learn of Nigel Latta's passing.
Last year, Nigel reached out to us to offer to use his platform to support others facing stomach cancer. We were so impressed and moved by his desire to help others in the face of his own diagnosis.
When he was diagnosed, Nigel said he had to 'walk the talk' he recommends in his professional life. He had some really great tips on resilience when facing a cancer diagnosis. "You don't chose what happens to you, but you can choose how to respond."
On his passing, Executive Officer, Liam Willis said "spending any time with Nigel you were struck by positivity and enthusiasm for life, none of which were diminished by his diagnosis. Nigel's approach to his illness was inspirational. He spoke passionately about resilience and remaining positive in spite of the challenges he faced, and remained incredibly generous with his time and energy, supporting GCF and others even whilst going through treatment. Nigel was a true advocate for our community and friend to GCF. Our thoughts are with Natalie and Nigel's family."
In the past few days, Liam has been asked to pay tribute to Nigel and the work he did including an Interview with Ryan Bridges, Early Edition, Newstalk ZB.
Here are some other tributes to Nigel from GCF in the media:
