Gut Cancer Foundation welcomes Geoff Parnell to its Board

Gut Cancer Foundation is pleased to welcome Geoff Parnell as the newest member of its Board.

Geoff is Chair of the Australasian Gastrointestinal Trials Group, trading as GI Cancer Trials, and brings extensive experience as a business executive, company director and strategic leader.

He is also an oesophageal cancer survivor, patient advocate and community representative involved in several clinical trials being conducted by GI Cancer Trials. His combination of governance experience, sector knowledge and lived experience will bring an important perspective to the work of Gut Cancer Foundation.

Geoff currently consults through his private company, Aqumen Pty Ltd, and holds several non-executive and community roles. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Australian Institute of Management and the Governance Institute of Australia.

His appointment further strengthens the close relationship between Gut Cancer Foundation and GI Cancer Trials. The two organisations share a commitment to improving outcomes for people affected by gastrointestinal cancers through research, clinical trials and greater access to new treatment opportunities.

As we welcome Geoff, we also extend our sincere thanks to Professor Lorraine Chantrill, who is stepping down from the Gut Cancer Foundation Board.

Lorraine is a highly respected medical oncologist with considerable expertise in gastrointestinal cancers, particularly pancreatic cancer. During her time on the Board, she contributed valuable clinical expertise, insight and guidance, while helping to strengthen the relationship between Gut Cancer Foundation and GI Cancer Trials.

We are deeply grateful to Lorraine for her service and support of our kaupapa.

Ngā mihi nui, Lorraine, and a very warm welcome to Geoff. We look forward to working with him as we continue to support research, clinical trial access and better outcomes for New Zealanders affected by gut cancers.
