Now available: My Care KIT for Stomach Cancer

Gut Cancer Foundation has launched My Care KIT for stomach cancer, providing free, trusted and practical information for people affected by stomach cancer across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Designed for patients, carers, whānau and health professionals, My Care KIT brings together important information about stomach cancer, diagnosis, treatment, nutrition, symptom management, clinical trials and support in one easy-to-use resource.

The stomach cancer My Care KIT is available as a digital download or as a printed binder delivered free of charge throughout New Zealand.

Trusted information for the journey ahead

Being diagnosed with stomach cancer can feel overwhelming. Patients and their whānau may suddenly need to understand unfamiliar medical information, prepare for tests and appointments, consider different treatment options and manage changes to eating, digestion and everyday life.

The My Care KIT for stomach cancer has been developed to make reliable information easier to find and understand. It allows people to work through the information at their own pace, prepare questions for their healthcare team and keep important notes and documents together throughout their care.

This Care KIT is part of Gut Cancer Foundation’s wider upper gastrointestinal cancer support service, which provides free information, guidance and practical support to people affected by cancers of the stomach, oesophagus, pancreas, liver and biliary system.

What is included in the Stomach Cancer My Care KIT?

The KIT contains Knowledge, Information and Tools to help patients, carers and whānau better understand stomach cancer and what may lie ahead, including:

  • The stomach and how it works

  • Understanding stomach cancer

  • Tests and investigations

  • Cancer staging

  • The treatment journey

  • Treatment options

  • Managing symptoms and treatment side effects

  • Diet and nutrition

  • Clinical trials

It also provides space to record appointments, symptoms, medications, questions and other important information, helping patients and whānau feel more organised and prepared when meeting with their care team.

Helping people feel informed and supported

Everyone’s experience of stomach cancer is different, but having clear and accessible information can help people feel more confident when making decisions and discussing their care.

My Care KIT is intended to complement the advice provided by your healthcare team while offering a trusted resource they can return to whenever questions arise.

Whether someone has recently been diagnosed, is undergoing treatment or is supporting a loved one, My Care KIT is designed to provide practical guidance throughout their journey.
